    Don't know about "Barnall" Ammo

I know the stuff is russian that's all I know, but Wiedners.com has Barnaul ammo in both lacqured and non lacqured cases at pretty good prices Saw it today. I don't know if it is any good I wouldn't buy the stuff myself. I reload all my rounds. I know some of you are looking for cheap ammo

I have one warning on this ammo, if you have a Garand..DO NOT SHOOT THEIR 30-06 AMMO IN A M1 GARAND!!! The powder is TOO SLOW!! and the velocity is TOO HOT!!! (3Kfps+) I bought some of this ammo 2 yrsd ago when it became available.. corno'd it in one of my Garands..
averaged 3010fps!! and extreme muzzle flash as well as a bright flash at the breech upon case ejection!! WAY SLOW POWDER!!!

Almost sounds like it was made for the Browning Machine gun.. Something with a bit more punch for those old actions.. May have also been made for the BAR?

Barnaul seems to have a good reputation among those who've used it in their Makarov's. I've got some, but don't think I've fired any of it yet. It's typical comm-block ammo in that it's sealed around the primer and the neck.

Here's some data that was collected by one of the members over on the Mak forum for Barnaul's 9x18 ammo.

        Barnaul 94-gr FMJ (10 rounds tested)Barnaul 95-gr HP (10 rounds tested)

I've run a bunch of Barnaul through my SKS with no problems, but it's designed to eat that Russki stuff...

Can't stand that bimetal crap since I can't shoot it at Angeles. And now with our dry winter, I am not willing to shoot it out in the desert either. But dang there is nothing out there in .308 that does not break the bank! Had to buy Remington at $120 per 200 rounds I am going to go broke! No point in reloading, it's for a PTR 91 (fluted chamber kills brass dead). Ah for the good old days when even the local overpriced store at 35 bucks for 140 rounds of SA was still affordable...

WRONG!!! Fluted chambers doesn't ruin brass!! It just makes 'em look ugly! I have been reloading for my HK-91 since I bought it in '85. Nothing wrong with the brass at all.

Would you shoot it in your M1A?

I would not expect the brass to last many loadings... What pops out of my PTR looks like a pregnant zebra. Guess I will start saving that ugly brass after all.
