    RCBS SUCKS!!!

I only own one set of RCBS Dies..223...First it was a decapping pin, then it was the decapping pin assembly. Now my bullet puller broke... I just bought a trim mate, hopefully that will last, all my other dies are Redding... just ordered a Redding deluxe set...you really get what you pay for... even in dies

I got my Lee dies for great prices and I couldn't be happier with them.

Are you decapping military crimped primers? Did you get a Berdan primed case?

My RCBS Dies are over 30 years old. I use Redding for precision stuff but RCBS on the Mil stuff. I know the decap pins are different on the new dies.

Are you using dies with the straight decap pins or the newer pins? I like the older setup as the pin is more sacrificial and protects the rest of the assembly.

RCBS has the largest assortment of reloading equipment of anyone else. They are made in Oroville and of equal quality to any other manufacture. Probably more RCBS stuff working than all the other brands combined. I have other brands too but none are better than RCBS. I tried to order some new decapping pins for a set of Pacific Dies that I have, They didn't even know what I was talking about....so I made my own. I would look closely at my own technique (What am I doing wrong?) and give them a chance to fix the dies you have.

Like every other good company, they sell out to some bigger outfit (ATK) and the first things that go are customer service and quality. No profit in those things, ya know.

My older RCBS equipment is rock solid but I would hesitate to buy new given some of the complaints I'm seeing.

IMO RCBS is not what is used to be. Used to be topnotch equipment and service. Now, not so much. I bought a kinetic bullet puller (one of the polycarbonate mallets). Used it six times (always against a piece of wood as directed). On the sixth time, the entire BACK of the mallet (where the collet holds the case) broke off. I was able to collect the collet assembly, took pictures and contacted RCBS. I sent pictures of it to RCBS and they said that I would have to send it back (on my dime) so they could look at it and then they would send a replacement.

This is not a high dollar item and it was pretty obvious from the pictures it was a manufacturing defect. I was hoping they would see the pictures and just send out a replacement, but they didn't. Right then and there, RCBS lost me as a customer. I'm not going to spend $8 in shipping to return a $15 item to possibly get a replacement.
                        Luck favors the prepared.

You have the new style decap pin. Did you set the depth at the minimum needed to punch out the primer? The newer decap pins have a larger dia. they are stronger than the old style. Wonder if the decap assembly was bottoming out on the inside of the primer cup. The inside of the cases ok, not crushed?

I went to make some ammo today on my RCBS piggyback that I have been using for over 15 years and found that some unknown person or thing had broken the end off my indexing rod. Since I have a big shooting event planned for the weekend, I need that part quick. I spoke with RCBS customer service and was told that they had the part in stock, but it would be unlikely that I would receive it before the weekend. Fortunately, I live only about an hour from Oroville and was able to drive up to their office. They were nice enough to hook me up with the new part, and even threw in some extra bushings and stuff that he thought I might need since my press was so old and had been so well used. And the best part....they replaced the part for free even though it was almost worn out and obviously broken.
I wish all of my equipment was made and supported as well as my RCBS stuff.

I have to say in my dealings with RCBS their customer service is unmatched. A friend gave me a RCBS press that was missing the primer catcher. I e-mailed RCBS and asked if the part was in stock and the cost. They sent me the part free....
