    10mm, glock 29/20

considering a glock 29 for my next pistol...
is reloading 10mm generally resetting the powder throw and resize & crimping die compared to .40 sw?
know of good sources for brass local or online?

the only discouragement i've gotten so far is that it can be a very hot load; combined with a compact glock could be trouble
i can shoot .45 well from my xd compact with no problems

If you're concern is loading it HOT, then start off by not changing the powder measure and start off low. I haven't done this myself but I've heard of people doing this. As far as brass goes, I've got a buddy who gets it of some guy on the east coast. Although seasonal you can still find it. I'll pm you his email. In the mean time here is a web site that usually caries it.

I'm doing some load data for 10mm right now. I'm using longshot, starline brass, cci large pistol. As for bullets, I'm doin 135 gr and 155 gr right now. This weekend, I will have some chrono info for those loads. I need to find me some 180 gr and 200 gr bullets.

Mind you, I'm shooting all this out of my glock 29. I love my g29!!!

There is a guy in the for sales selling 180 gr bullets named Apoman, I believe. My G29 with LW barrel is my most accurate Glock for me, even with very hot loads. I have no trouble controlling it and I am not a big guy but I do like shooting large caliber handguns.

go for the glock 20 and get a 40 sw barrel and be happy...
for full house loads the extra barrel length is the cat's meow..or claw ...or fang or something...
unless you are carrying it daily I don't really see the reason for the 29.. the 20 in a good iwb holster is what I often carry off duty..and have never felt unhappy... love the gun...sitting next to my bed as I type this with a light attached...and my normal cap mags bring a smile to my face..

Something to consider when reloading for a Glock. They do not have a fully supported chamber. You can see this if you remove the barrel and slide a round in. This causes case ruptures when using reloaded brass. While it wont kill you it stings like hell and usually results in your mag flying out. I learned the hardway on a G23 / .40 scared the piss out of me.

Actually, most report that Glock has fixed this issue in the last two years or so and you can always throw in an aftermarket barrel and rock on.

I have a batch of brass I've reloaded a few times for my G20C (stock barrel) and though I haven't had any ruptures, I've found the resizing is a little harder to do because of the slight bulge at the base, especially on the nickel plated brass. I've saved myself some grief though on a couple of the cases by checking them on a case gauge before reloading.

My reloads have been with 7.1 gr of Unique behind Rainier's 155 gr FP plated bullets, which seems to be working out well. I have new brass though that I picked up a while back through Cabelas (Winchester = expensive; try to find Starline) that I'll be loading up with 180 gr Nosler & XTP's using AA #7.

So, to answer the OP, reloading for the 10mm isn't much different than a .40 as you pointed out (don't forget to change your seating die) but it does use large pistol primers. Bullet choices are abundant.

As noted, I've had a little more challenge with the sizing but I've picked up a KKM 6" 'hunting' barrel that has a fully supported chanmber which should help with this. Of course, I had to pick up a .40 barrel for it too because someone here on CG told me to.

I have no regrets going with the G20c and did so because I already load for the .40 and the drop in barrel changes are a plus. Good luck with your choice.

I have a KKM barrel for my G20 that saves the brass from getting too buldged. It resizes very easy, even shooting at maximum. My favorite load is a Montana Gold 180g. FMJ or JHP over 9.5 grains of Longshot and a Wolf large pistol primer. I get 1290fps out of the Glock and 1300fps out of a Smith 1006. Very accurate, clean and lots of fun to shoot.

What is a good price for a Glock 29?

It is a bit more involved, but generally, YES, this is correct.

More powder and adjust the dies for the longer case. Also, you'll need to switch to large primers.

Brass is a BEAR to find as most 10mm shooters reload due to costs.

Bullets are much easier because they share the same .401 round as the 40S&W.

The Glock29 is a fine firearm, however, full power loads can be hazardous to your hands and wrist.

GL on whichever you decide to do.
