    Am I nuts?

I reload on a 650, cast my own boolits so a few boxes is low cost say $5 per box. So day at range 10 boxes, gas and range fee, targets and lunch maybe $80. BUT I get the biggest smile and charge out of coming home with a few dozen EXTRA 45 acp brass from the next guy over is that nuts?

In fact I spend most time when not shooting eyeing eveyones brass and how can I sweep it up before the other guy or range oficers sweeps it off.

I also love free brass. Going home with more than you came with is a good feeling.

I do the same thing at the canyon I shoot at. When I see a car leave I go over with my bucket.

Holy smokes, you go through 500 rounds per outing??!! I go through about half of that and about half of that is rimfire.......trying to spread out what I have left. I still can't get over how much bullets have gone up in price. I keep getting pushed towards casting!!

So long at you recognize range ettiquite...you're fine.

Some shooters police their own brass (like me), so make sure you ask first.

If I see you policing my brass, I will point it out to you.

But if it belongs to no one, you're good to go.

I also police-up brass from the action range. Sometimes I only come out with what I came with - usuallyaround 300 to 400 rounds per Saturday practice session. But sometimes I will make out like a big dawg, and pocket almost double that.

              Those are good weekends!

It's all part of being a reloader.

Recognize range ettiquite, follow indoor-range brass policy, and reload to your hearts content. (Or till your wallet burns away).

I'm usually content is I lose 1 piece every other magazine. I always come back with more than I started with, but usually it's calibers I don't load for. I just throw the randoms in loosely organized buckets and some day will probably need them.

                    What is a Brass Whore???

A brass whore is someone who will stand there with a galvanized pale and catch someone else brass before it hits the ground. Therefore insuring he gets it. For him Shooting becomes optional at the range.

Common courtesy is to ask the shooter if they are saving their brass, if not I asked if I can pick them up.

In the canyon I go to , I wait till they leave. Its not a shooting range so you do have to pick up after yourself. But its not a big deal if they leave brass cause of the reloaders. I also pick up other calibers I dont have for future purchases.

+1 to this, right after I get to the range, I usually walk the lanes. Those shooting calibers I want, I wait until they are done with a mag, then ask if they keep their brass. if they say no, I ask if I can have it and I'll clean it up for them. I've only had one person say no, and I noticed a hand press on the bench next to him lol
