scratched up brass

my sizing die is scratching up my .45ACP brass, it feels frictioney when I run the ram... so i stopped

do I need a new die?

try to run something up in your die like a paper clip with a cleaning pad on it or something like that to see if there is something loose inside of it that you can remove. Otherwise you may need to replace it. Thats where I would start maybe someone else has had the same problem

Take the decap pin out of it and inspect it with a light. Try cleaning it with a Q tip and solvent. If it's scratched, it can be sent to the manufacturer and they can polish it for a small fee or sometimes for free. What brand and type are your dies?

Is it a carbide die? if not then you need to lube your brass or it will continue scratching it.

they are RCBS, I don't know how this happened.... but I think it is fuxored

no, I cleaned the inside out pretty good

I would get a wooden dowel, wrap some 400 grit sand paper around it and go to work. After all the brass and debris is gone, progress to finer paper, and then polish. Or buy a new die, and clean(tumble) your brass better next time.

My 9mm carbide die is also scratched up, I think from media. Is it that big of a problem???

ehh, I am thinking I may have put some steel cases in the die

Is that a carbide die? I'm not seeing the carbide sizer ring insert at the mouth of the case.
