    San Diego Reloading Supplies Interest?

Posting to gauge interest for reloading supplies in San Diego. What would you like to see locally?

    Powders, primers, brass, bullets?
Varget, maybe some 77gr SMK bullets?

GOOD assortment of powder, all manufacturers
GOOD assortment of primers, all manufacturers
GOOD assortment of Bullets, all manufacturers, including BULK
    BRASS, new and used
    Wads, Shot

    Dies, scales, presses

Basically, anything reloading related like you USED to get in a GOOD STORE.
At prices that are REASONABLY competitive. Which means if you charge $28.95 for a pound of powder that can be purchased for $18.95 mail order, don't bother. However I would pay up to $3.00 more for a local supplier. If you charge $49 @ 1000 for primers when you can get them for $34.95 mail order, don't bother. I WOULD pay up to $3.00 more locally.
These are the very reasons I refuse to buy reloading stuff from the El Cajon Gun Exchange.

I agree with the above poster, I have no problem bulk ordering to get what I want and bite the shipping and hazmat. That said, if it could be made economical to buy local then I would.

Agreed. I'm not so much interested in reloading gear, more so components. I hate having to buy in bulk to make it worth while. A good selection of popular powders would be nice.

          1. Powder (Varget, Titegroup, Bullseye, and other faves)
          2. Primers (Wnchester, CCI)
          3. Bullets (good selection of .40, .45, .308, etc.); cheap moly coated stuff as well as quality match grade stuff
          4. Presses, replacement parts, powder scales, dies, etc.

I would strongly prefer to buy local, both to support local dealers and because I don't like pre-ordering weeks in advance of when I run out.

+1 on powder, primer, bullet selection. Prices should be competitive with mail order outfits like Powder Valley (considering the Hazmat and shipping costs). I just ordered 10lbs of powder and 10,000 primers from them and with hazmat and shipping it was still less expensive then buying locally. Getting bulk bullets is fairly cheap using Internet/mail since they ship with the USPS standard boxes so shipping about the same as sales tax here. If someone local made the bullets you and you could offer them inexpensively that would be great, but I would guess that Kalifornia environmental laws make any lead manufacturing as difficult as possible.

I buy locally, given the chance. It may be a lofty to assume a storefront can compete with online mail orders. I prefer to spend a couple bucks and support a local shop. You just may be able to offset a bit higher retail price with the shipping and haz the consumer doesn't have to pay. I think it could be a win-win for all reloading San Diegans.

I plan to buy all my gear/supplies in Sept. to begin loading. Plenty of time for someone here to get an online store set up working out of his garage.

I too would prefer to support a local retailer, but none have anything in stock.

The popular powders for handgun and shotgun would be very handy, along with wads and primers for shotgun (209's) and small/large PP's.

I guess the biggest draw-back to local is paying the tax at close to 10% most everywhere around here. Buying online and paying the shipping is probably slightly cheaper....marginal though.

Large group buys would be a good thing if that is a part of the deal. Bulk buy for good pricing and a smaller hazmat fee split. Problem there is that once a large buy occurs, it's gonna be quite awhile before anyone needs more. Bad Ju-ju for the storefront.

I would buy from you but if you rape me I will go online. I nkow that the shipping and hazmat will be split across 10 items should be about 3 bucks over the internet price, more then that and I sit right back down to the internet

I also would love to support local stores but at the prices they charge I just laugh and walk out. I honestly feel bad for the stores. Especially the small reloading store in La Mesa. Nice guys. But they are either price gauging or they just can't compete with places like Cabela's or Midway.

I would prefer a local store. One that gives a crap and is willing to stock stuff or at the very least order it for a group buy. Case and point, I went to a local store that carries reloading supplies. When I asked if they carry a certain brand and type of powder they said "no" and moved on to the next customer and just left me standing there. When I kept standing there the guy finally came back to ask me if there was anything else he could do for me. I asked if they could order the powder, and I could pay in advance? I do know they normally carry the brand but not the type I was looking for. They said "no" , basically I'm SOL. Customer service means alot to me. If you are willing to do the work, I will spend my money there. I don't expect miracles, but at least be willing to try.

I don't mind a company making a profit, but 100% markup, just because they can, pisses me off. We have a few local stores I won't go to at all, as they pissed me off, and I will just find another means.

If you have primers, powder in stock, or are willing to order it in. And you can keep the prices at a reasonable mark-up, not only will I buy there, I will tell everyone I know who needs supplies to buy there. I am sure alot of us will buy other stuff while we are there too. If you use your head about it, I am 100% sure you can give some of there other ***-clown stores a run for thier money. Here's a little insight. I drive to Bass Pro Shop in Ontario from Oceanside to stock up. They generally have it, or will get it for me. Since you would be considerably closer, and could so the same service, I would have found a new supplier.

Stupid people don't know they are stupid. Because they are stupid. They will follow evil geniuses and do their bidding, because they are stupid.

Really super stupid people look up to, and follow stupid people like they were geniuses, because to them, they are. Unfortunately the reality of it is, that doesn't make stupid people any smarter.

That right there is the root cause to most problems in the world.

We just applied with IMR/Hodgdon/Winchester, so we should be hearing from them shortly with pricing info.

Decent price for primers, powders, bullets and brass. A good selection too.

I'll have to check out you guy's store someday.
