    brass

Question for reloaders... If you have to choose between Winchester, Hornady, and BHA Match brass for your .223 precision reloads, which one would you choose? And Why? Thanks.

    Winchester.

Primarily because I've been buying USA223R3 62 gr FMJ and Q3131 55 gr FMJ by the case. I shoot the new ammo from my Colts and Bushmaster. I started saving my .223 brass only a couple of years ago.

I have over 3,000 pcs of Winchester. About 1,000 pcs of Lake City (divided by date 03/04/05). I have exactly 58 pcs of Hornady and 187 pcs of BHA.

So far I've probably loaded 1,500 precision loads using Winchester cases and I'm playing with Lake City...or will be once I get a chance to test fire.

*Precision* loads? Winchester is good all around. I believe BHA match ammo has their brass made by Winchester. Not sure about Hornady. I know they used to get their brass from Frontier. It was about comparable to Remington.

Go Lapua if you need true precision.

Thanks, OCABJ, but I don't need one hole 5 shots precission. 1/4 in, or a nice clover leaf will do just fine for me. I can get that kind of precission with Hornady 55 grn a-max molly factory load, but it runs like $18 per 20 rd. box.
I hope to copy the ballistict of that load, but I wanted to know which of those 3 types of brass would be more suitable. I have access to all 3 types, and I guess I'll need to try them all. I'll make some reloads to try for our Mar. 31st varmint shoot. Thanks again.
