    Got a 9x21 die set.

Ordered a lee carbide die set from cabelas for my glock 17. Thought 9mm luger was 9x19 and realized the die set says 9x21. I talked to cabelas on the phone since the shipping was all screwed up and it came with no shell holder like it was supposed to but the guy said it will work for 9x19. I don't know how much I trust a customer service guy...

Also the papers that came with the dies says 9mm Luger wich I thought was 9x19... I'm finding mixed answers on the net. Some say the 9x21 has a tapered case and will not work for 9x19. I'm just confused and now they are sending me a new die set but I'm not sure if I will need to just sell em now.

I don't think it will work man. Looks like the 9X21 was developed to get around a 9X19 ban just like we use the 50DTC instead of the 50BMG. 9x21 is going to be a bit longer which means the walls will be straighter than a 9X19. I'd request a replacement.

I also read that but what is confusing the crap out of me is it says 9mm luger... 9mm Luger is 9x19 not 9x21...

Yeah this is starting to piss me off. Cabelas site has the die listed as 9mm Luger wich is 9x19 the dies say 9mm luger but also 9x21. From my understanding the 9x21 case is just 2MM longer but the bullets seat to the same depth and they did this to get around beign able to own 9x19 pistols in italy. So I talked to cabelas and they are sending me a new die set because mine came without a shellholder but I'm not sure if I should try to get a refund when the new set comes or just possibly sell it here...

9x19 die set will reload 9x21 just fine. You obviously have to adjust the crimp setting though.

9x21 is just the 9x19 lengthened 2mm. This was developed for European countries where it is illegal to own military caliber weapons. Uses the same loading data. The 9x21 become somewhat popular in the US because it became a game round, being able to circumvent the USPSA Major9 ban, since there weren't any SAMMI specs for the 9x21.

I'm reloading 9x19 but the die set says 9mm luger when I ordered wich is 9x19 but the dies are 9x21 so will they work for 9x19? Like I said I don't get it 9mm luger is 9x19 not x21 and the dies say 9x21...

                      Hold your horses!!

Yes you can load 9mm luger AND 9x21 with that die set! It's just like a .38 special /.357 mag die set. You just adjust the die for the longer or shorter round. I have the same numbers on my Hornady die set that I have had for many years and it works. What you are confusing is SHOOTING 9x21 in a 9mm luger chamber, the round is too long to chamber.

Take a breath, relax and reload. If you call Cabela's again and have a problem with a product, ask to speak to a "product specialist". They will actually get the product in their hands and help you out.
