3 full buckets (from paint) covered with lids will have 10,000 shells.
1500 .308 shells will fill the bucket 2" from ream.

Thanks for the info. I just finished trimming about 2 buckets full of 223 cases it took me several days to do it. I was thinking 2 thou each bucket but I think your closer to the right number. I have 7000 55 gr FMJ bullets, and 5000 small rifle primers. I'll be loading ammo for a while. B2B

You are my HERO... I don't have enough patience to trim cases few days in a row. I usually reload 200-300 rounds before range trip. And I don't trim my cases after they are shot from my gun for 4 reloads. After that I trim them again and reload 2-3 times more. What equipment do you use? Do you have a good recepy for your loads?

I trim my cases on a Dillon XL650 using the Dillon trimmer motor and trim die. I have one for 223 and 308 I can use the 308 with the 06 case also, so it sizes and trims in one pass progressively. I usually set up a decapping die in station one, to knock out the used primer first. It's fast and easy. I clean the brass first in the tumbler to get carbon and dirt off. Then I put a bunch of clean cases in a shallow card board box. I spray them down with spray lube for the sizing. I use dillon or RCBS spray lube when I have it. (Hornaday One Shot work OK) but sometimes it's not enough lube for lots of cases and I get a stuck case, which sucks... them next I put them in the press and trim them, after they are trimmed to length, I tumble off the lube in my vibrating tumbler. I change tool head in the press to the seating die and load them up. I'm using 26 grains of WC846 and a IMI 55gr bullet in LC mil cases seem to work well for me. It's still a lot of work even with the progressive machine, but what better things do I have to do on the weekends...drink beer B2B

Well, there are 16 cups in a gallon, and 80 cups in 5 gallons. So fill up 1 measuring cup with brass and count how many rounds are in it. Then multiply that by 80.

That should get you close. I'm guessing the actual number will be a little higher than this kind of estimate.

B2B, How do you like the dillion trimmer? I just ordered a Hornady progressive press and was thinking of gettig the dillon trimer to go with it.

Bob My best guess is 3500 rounds in a bucket w/o a lid... sound like your going to be the proud owner of a bucketO brass...I like the dillon trimmer as it is fast, but if I had it to do over, (and I may someday) I think I'd get a Gracy or that other one Guagian'ersomthing I'd get a trimmer that debur's as it trims.... deburing sucks even with a power station which I have... So even if it is a slower machine I'd get it... I'm also thinking about getting a RCBS X die in 223 and 308 and go that rout... Another things that is a pain in the ( * ) is swaging primer pockets.... A progressive pocker swager would sell well....I just picked up dillon auto case feeder for the 650 it is SWEET shoulda gotten that years ago....How is your new baby? What did you name her? AR or ALS? Well, believe it or not, I still haven't got the ALS. It's a long story and one that Darran is proud to tell. It has something to do with a certain activity that was hapening when Roberta had a stoke. Because of that, Darran spent 3 days at the hospital and wasn't able to finish my gun in time for the match last August. I let him slide and told him that I'd wait until this April's match. Now I have to load for my AR and I'm trying to load 75+ rounds for the ALS just in case I get it. Bob and I are bringing our 1919s if you've got a belt fed you should bring it too.

Baby's name is Julia, she was 8lbs even and came to us on Thursday. I'm still waiting on my new press. I ordered the feeder now I'm looking at trimmers. I thinking the Dillion would be a good safety since most of what I load will be blaster ammo for my OLL (223 & 308) and my 1919 (308) Last thing I want is an over pressure from to long a case. I have a friend who did that to a customized M1 carbine. Luckily he didn't hurt himself but the gun didn't do as well. He never agian reloaded with out checking case length.

No I don't have a belt fed- but I've been thinking about a 1919 build for a long time, does yours run well? I have a friend who had a semi 1919 and M2 he love em... Bob that's a nice size baby 8's a good number too. CSA wow that has been a long time coming, I thought you had it last year, or maybe you just ordered it last April match...I know my buddy on ordered one last april and it's been over a year for his gun. I've been thinking about the idea of picking one up as well, I'd have to have it in a non BMG though as I'd put it on a Fab10 lower. Are you going to be able to shoot your belt feds?? I thought the range on extra shooting on the 1000Yd other then during the match?? B2B

Your right, its been a long time since I ordered it. I think I placed the order 8-05! Since then a lot of things have happened. I bet little 50BMGJULIA wasn't being considered yet. Also, since the time I ordered my ALS, I met, got engaged and got married! I'm sure glad my wife is ALLOWING me to see the deal through! I'm not sure about shooting the little Brownings at the range. But, if all else fails, I know a couple of open and safe spots up on the mountain that I'll go to Sunday night or Monday morning. I just hope that I don't get pulled over with 2 BMGs, the 1919 and whatever else I decide to pack along with all the ammo. I'm sure that a rookie LEO wouldn't know what to do. I guess I won't be speeding that weekend!
