Loading .410 shotgun shells.

I will soon be heading out of state and will purchasing a Taurus judge. Im considering the possibility of using it for hunting small game and was wondering if anyone reloads the .410 with BB, BBB or #4 buck shot? What kind of penetration and range do you get with this little shell and would you feel confident using it against dog sized critters?

Feral dogs and coyotes are fair game. Ferals resond to calls pretty muvh like coyotes only more agressive.

I've read the reports on the 410 out of the Judge and it was very unimpressive. I like the concept but the short barrel length just turns it into very poor round.

I think the Judge was made for short, I mean VERY short range defense. I've seen them shoot it across a car and with buck, it open up to Center Mass size already just going from side-to-side of a small car. So Im guessing at 20 yards it'll be barn size group?

I was doing a little reading a while back and know that its possible to reload 410 using 444 marlin brass as well as others but, 444 fits really well in the chamber. Wads can be picked up for cheap.

Watch the presure. 10000 max or you'll put your eye out. and no it's not good on dogs or coyotes. Get a 243 for that or 12ga. with #4 buck works great.
