6.5x47 Lapua Recipes

Hello Gents,

Starting to play with my 6.5x47 and want to match up some numbers.

I did not have time to test loads before last Sunday's match so I loaded light from Quick Load.

1st try.

139 Scenar - Moly
39.6 H3450
48.1 fired case capacity
2680 @ 65 degrees (27" barrel)
Notes: Just touching the lands @ 2.680, No pressure signs, Gun shot well but load is slow.

Going to switch to R17 and load 60 rounds light for the match this Sunday. If I have time I will load up in .2 increments to see what generates pressure signs.

Notes: .05 off the lands, No pressure signs. Gun shot well 3/8ish groups off the bipod. Think this might be a close to a winner. Going to try and get some 600 yrd ladder testing done.

Looks like another success story with RL17. I've been satisfied using it in .308 loads in both my tac and F/TR rifles. I use the heavier 185 and 190 grain pills to take advantage of the additional jug tipping RL17 has. I've tried N150, but couldn't reach the chrono numbers I was looking for.

If you're looking to reach 2900, maybe give some naked bullets a try.

I am going to ladder test and stick with the sweet spot... Should land some place in 2800- 2900. According to QL .2 grains gets the velocity back at the same pressure as naked bullets. I am not really attached to moly just all Powder Valley had in stock at the time.
