Hey guys. First time civilian firearms owner here. I'm currently building an ar with a 5.56 chambered M4 upper. I was wondering if .223 caliber ammo can be fired safely and accurately from my 5.56 chambered upper. Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for the quick replu Gio! I was thinking of picking up a few boxes of 223 Remington Match PPU Match Ammunition to zero my weapon. Do you have any recommendations? for ammo?Comment

Not really, I would save the PPU Match stuff for after zeroing. PMC Bronze is good and not too expensive, Remington or Winchester will work just fine. You might have to tweak your score once you move to match ammo, I am not a MOA kind of guy I go for Center Mass

If you can find them, try the Federal value packs at Wal-Mart 100 rds of 55 gr for ~$40. Brass is good for reloading.

Well also on the ammo you use, most factory ammo that is .223 will get you in the 2MOA range if you are a good shot. Be safe and have fun
