I searched around and found no data using Varget. This was using my data books and web sites.

Kinda seems like a waste of good powder for a middle of the road round unless you are planning to us it out of bolt action for groups. Varget is hard to find right now. I'm sure you can find someone who is willing to trade you for it.

Varget's going to be too slow burning to get maximum performance. You'll run out of case capacity before you hit the pressure ceiling. IMR3031, IMR/H4198, Reloader7 are probably more appropriate burn rates.

What is there to read? You didn't say jack? You won't find load data because its the wrong powder for the round. 7.62x39 is more like a pistol round than a rifle round you need a fast quick burning powder not a slow powder like varget and AGAIN unless you are shooting out a longer barrel bolt action you are wasting powder because you will just get a slow moving bullet with a big fireball. Don't be an smart-a55 OK. It obvious you don't know anything about Varget so its best to listen to those of us that do. If you want simple "yes no" answer try Wiki. Thanks for the info. Actually, I think I'll go with H-4895, since I can also use it in the other rifle calibers I shoot.

My mistake. I thought I had put bolt in there. You might try being a bit more diplomatic, since my post only asked you to reread my OP, which I should have done, too.

Varget is not appropriate for a 7.62x39 cartridge.

You need a faster powder such as 1680 or 2200.
Reloader 7 or H4198 would work good too.

That's not a good powder choice either.
Don't try to pick a powder to work with all your cartridges.
Pick the best powder for EACH cartridge.

Thanks. I appreciate the information provided by you and the others who replied. I'll go with H-4198.
