    moly coated bullets

    do you have to lube moly coated bullets or can you run them with just the moly

    I think the moly coating is over rated, but you can shoot the bullets with just moly coating. No need to lubricate.

      Moly is slick, no need for lube.

          I assume you are talking about lead pistol bullets right? Yeah Moly is fine. I buy Bear Creek and they use moly to coat their bullets. No need for lube.

          There are a good number of people who coat jacket rifle bullet in moly and swear by it. I've tried it and did not get good results at all. A bullet that shots 1/4" MOA turned into a 1 MOA bullet. A couple guys told me you must "season" a barrel to use moly and once you use moly you must stick with moly for that barrel. It was more trouble then it was worth so I never did it again.

            There's a lot of information on the internet regarding moly coated bullets. I'll let you research it and make your own conclusions. In my testing I haven't found them to be either positive or negative. They shoot like most other bullets. It's possible that if you shoot a lot of them you might experience barrel fouling at at faster rate.

              the reason i ask is that i shot 50 rounds of 45acp that are moly coated and when i cleaned my gun the barrel was leaded very bad so not sure what happend i will check some more to see if i can find out what the deal is
