You can't "mess it up." You can mess up your reloads but it is hard to hurt the press. Even if you do, Dillon will send you replacement parts for free.

Another thing to think about is what you can sell the parts in the Lee kit for if you upgrade and find you don' need the parts anymore. Your dies will fit on whatever you upgrade to.

          Scale $15
          Autoprime $15-20
          Powder measuer $20
          Press $30
          Misc parts $10

So there's $85 of your $100 investment back, plus any savings on ammo you've made in the time between now and when you can justify/afford a Dillon or whatever you switch to down the line.

The $81.99 deal on midway (posted on page 1) seems like a really good deal, so I already ordered it, plus I use the $10 off $50, so total only comes out to $71.99 + $15 shipping. I was thinking about exactly what Rover was saying, if I really don't like the Lee press, I can just sell it and get most of my money back. Anyway, I know for sure my next press will be the Dillon 550, but just want to get into reloading first and learn about it. Thanks for all your help.

i started the same way with the LEE hand loader, then then a Rockchucker, a LEE Progressive, then decided i wanted a more reliable progressive so the 650XL was the answer. i sold the presses i didn't need and used the money for the next one.

The way you're thinking is the Smart way of doing it! Good Luck and have Fun
