pulling lead bullets

What is best for pulling lead bullets? I've got a bunch of LRN .45 acp to pull.

Are there any press mounted pullers/collets I can use with lead? I prefer a press mounted one for its speed and durability over a kinetic hand held puller.

People around the net have mentioned that lead is too soft to be efficiently pulled with a press mount.

If not then I guess I'll have to get a kinetic hand held one.

If you don't want to salvage the bullets, just use your press without a die. At the top of the stroke , grab the bullet with pliers and lower the ram - out she comes-- If you have a heavy roll crimp it may not work well ------- my ha-penny

I read about that solution from from someone else. I tried it but the bullet does not go far enough up to be able to grab onto it with pliers. It rests right inside the die opening.

Lead bullets are still quite commonly used, surely there must be a die/collet set that can be used on them.

I'll just get a kinetic puller for now.

With collet puller you will wind up damaging the bullet and shaving lead off. A buddy of mine tried it once for his .45 auto RN "oops" load.

Kinetic is your best be.

collet puller damages the bullets....don't use one if you can aviod it....

lead is cheap so unless you have 5k worth to pull it is not worth the effort if you are looking to save the bullet
