I'm looking for a case trimmer thats not to expensive. For reloading my.308 also a case measurer.

hard to beat the universal lyman. i haven't bought one yet but am planning to. think they're around 60-70 bucks and come with all the pilots to trim pretty much anything. beats the heck out of buying pilots for every cal you have. and i have a bunch so it's a deal. check midway or graf's, both have them for good prices, and remember, graf's pays the shipping.

Hands down the L.E. Wilson trimmer. In my opinion it's the most accurate and best case trimmer ever made. I easily am able to get down to the exact 1/1000th of an inch I need to when trimming. Sinclairs offers a very nice upgrade for the unit as well; a nice mounting system and clamp unit to keep the caseholder in place. For the trimmer, mount and clamp
I beleive it's right around $80. Great for precision reloading...

If you want cheap and easy get the lee trimmer with a .308 pilot you chuck it into a standard batt drill and you can trim fairly quickly and it will run you maybe $14-16 for the trimmer and pilot

+1 one on the Possum Hollow. I use my Giraud for 223 but a Possum for my 308 & 204 brass prep.

Another vote for Possum Hollow. I have mine chucked up in a drill press, and it is very fast and consistent.

GET THE L.E. WILSON TRIMMER. It is probably the best trimmer on the market for precision. I trim all my cases to .001 EVERYTIME. If you already have a table vise, it would cost you like $40 for the trimmer and $10 for the .308 shell holder. If not, spend another $15 on a metal trimmer holder and you are set. This beats all the expensive trimmers out there. Trust me, once you go with this trimmer, you will never switch to anything else.

I mean I guess I'm not to worried about it being super cheap but I want something I can keep using as I progress. .308,30-06 and other calibers. I will be reloading for my precision rig and my garand mostly but will be doing other stuff like my leverguns and pistols.

If I get the LE wilson trimmer what all do I need to get with it? Where is a good place to order it? Also the little case measurer I saw a friend had one where you just stick the case in a little socket looking piece and if the neck sticks out it needs to be trimmed or if the rim sticks out your pushing the shoulder to far back or something.

I ordered mine from Midwayusa but I think Sinclair has it for a better deal. You are trying to load for .308 right?

All you need is the trimmer, the case holder, and a vise. I already had a table vise so I was set. But if you don't, you can get a bracket that they sell that works just fine. It's not a popular brand like RCBS, Forster, etc etc. But it works infinitely better imo and a lot cheaper. Just read the reviews, there are guys that had the trimmer for 30 years and still trim a perfect case everytime.

That's about $60 bucks for the whole set...$45 without the adaptor plate if you already have a table vise. I'm a HUGE fan of the LE Wilson trimmer and would gladly pay 5X the price for how well it works. It's by far the smartest and simplest design that I have ever used.

I kind of wish I went with the sinclair model with the micrometer as I handload for many different calibers. It would allow me to adjust the trimmer quickly between each caliber. But what I do now is that I trim a case to the exact length that I want and use it to adjust the trimmer to that length then just trim away. Works fine as well. I wish I went with the L.E. Wilson in the beginning instead of wasting money on other trimmers. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

I use a 6" digital caliper from Harbor Freight and it works great. It is very accurate. Other name brands that sell that SAME digital caliper just put their names on the caliper and call it theirs. It is accurate us to .001.

One thing to note. When you do purchase new shell holders for other calipers, you have to get the correct one. There is one for FIRED case and one for NEW OR FULL SIZED case. Some calibers use one holder for both fired and new cases. Just make sure you get the correct one. They are cheap anyways at $9 each, or you can get a custom one made from LE wilson.
