    Chronometer Suggestions

Anyone have any thoughts on the necessity of a chronograph? I'd like to see velocities of my loads and such.

I'm very open to opinions and suggestions on one!

    Thanks!

    Chronograph?

IMO an absolute necessity in handloading.

I just researched this same question. All the people that know about these things suggested I buy a CED brand. I didn't want to spend the $200 so I bought a $79 Chrono. From what I understand both work about the same, however the chrono will miss shots more often than the CED. For what I'm using it for I didn't really care so I got the chrono. Plus, I'm not a very good shot so I'll probably shoot it anyway Better to shoot a $79 chronograph than a $200 one.

But I read numerous posts on people that have owned a cheap chrono for over 10 years and it still works fine.

Having lost a couple of Chronys to lead poisoning over the years, I now use the CED. The modular design is cheaper to repair, and I like the control panel and software.

I've has an Oehler 35 and a Chrony. The Chrony does everything the casual hand loader needs.

The CED is a great chronograph and worth the $ for the features it provides but if you can't justify the cost, buy a chrony. They work just fine.

My ced's tripod fell over and the skyskycreen mount arm broke. Before I have used it one time. I better get off my butt and order one soon
