    Hornady .223 training ammo

Hey guys the local gun shop has .223 Hornady 75gr training ammo for $200 a case. Anyone try this stuff in an AR? Thoughts on the stuff? Thanks.

I think you mean a half case, 500 rounds. I got 500 rounds for $160+tax at the miwall booth a few weeks ago at the Cow Palace. But if you do mean 1000 rounds for $200, get a few cases just because!

I shot about 250 rounds of it the other weekend. It's ok for what it is, kinda dirty, shoots decent though. Enough to keep 19/20 rounds inside 6" at 50 yards with my MBUS.

To me it was about on par with the Silver Bear 62gr zinc-coated steel ammo I usually buy. Good range ammo for sure!

What makes them "training"? Are they factory seconds?

training? sounds like a better word than plinking i guess but is that what they are intended for?

Shooting the 75gr out of my 1/7 barrel.

Hell, I'm not even a very good shot, so someone with an Aimpoint, EOTech or ACOG could do much better than me.

By training ammo I think they mean just not Match ammo, it's plinking or range ammo. No FTF, FTE, etc. Good primer strikers, throws shells to about the 2-5 O'clock.
