    Sacramento Lead

    Hi all -

Every tire shop I've visited doesn't give out lead anymore. All of them are required to recycle to a third-party vendor and so they save all their wheel weights. Where are the alternative sources of lead in my area?

One shop I went to was "aware" of the new lead-free wheelweight stuff and never carried them. IIRC, they do send what few they do get out... but they can't give them away.

dude it's sad that its gone but even if you can pay some guy to give you a bucket there is a good chance that alot of it is iron and other stuff you dont want.

Used to get it for free, now the going rate in my area is $25.00 for 5 gallon bucket, still not that of a deal when you see what people are paying on Slease-Bay.

I get all my lead from boat yards. Find someone that has an old sail boat sitting around and ask for the keel.

Also, if you know any industrial or municipal plumbers, they will probably have more that you could ever use in a lifetime. Just don't ask where they got it...
