Primed brass?

Hey all,
I have a couple of questions about primed brass. I just received a batch of new, primed 10mm brass. Do these need to be resized? If they do, I'll obviously want to remove the decapping pin from my 650. If they don't need to be resized, I guess I'll just remove the sizing die.

Second question. Out of curiosity, why do you have to pay hazmat when you have primers(or powder for that matter) shipped when but you don't to when you have primed brass or live rounds. I'm glad I don't have to pay the extra, but it seems weird that you do in one case and not in the other.

If the brass is new than there is no need to resize however if you are running a casefeeder on the 650 you will resize your brass when you run it w/o the decapping pin in, the neck should have a little flare once you charge with powder.

As to why that is, it is nonsense. I know of some people that have sent primers and powder w/o getting caught. So I do not see why or what we need to have that Haz-Mat Fee to begin with. Most 3 day or standard UPS and or Fed Ex all go on trucks and not airplanes.

I could awnser that for you.... but you probably should do some more reading of your manual if you are asking that question

I imagin that if one primer went off in a case, they would all go off, however if one in primed brass went off, it would just be one... just be glad we can do it

Unless they were cleaned to perfection, I believe they're new. It is extremely shiny inside and out without a hint of dirt. I've never had new brass before, which is why I asked. I do have a case gauge for 10mm so I'll drop them in there and see what I get.

Reloading manuals tell you to keep primers in the tray they are stored in because they are designed to prevent one primer going off from igniting another as I recall. As for having the primed cases shipped did you have them shipped from a major dealer or was it more of a private transaction? Because major seller would likely still charge you the fee if nothing else just for CYA.

Maybe its just me but I always resize my brass new or not. Just remove the decapping pin and size away. One thing you can do it just take out your barrel and test each case in the chamber. If they all drop in under gravity they are probably good to go. If they take a little push or snag at all, resize them.
