    Maximum Case Length for AR-15

Ok long story short my case trimmer was tripping and after doing a couple hundred cases I measured some and there were alot ranging from 1.76 to 1.765 inches.
Will this make a big difference? It will be a huge hassle to go through hundreds of cases measuring each one to see which ones are too long so i can re-do them.. i'm not worried about accuracy because it is play ammo but I am worried about reliability..

The question. Will it cause my gun to jam? or failure to feed/eject
    Thank you for your help

Peronally, I would go through them, because some of them may be even longer than that. Max case is 1.760 for .223.

hmm... will it hurt if they are alittle shorter than that? cause i bought 1000 fully prepped lc and the ranged from 1.74 to 1.755... that is ok right since after shooting them they will still stretch...? thanks

The trim to length is 1.75" so any brass that is between 1.75-1.76" is fine. I've used some that is slightly shorter or longer before without any problem, but any brass that is significantly too short I toss, and any longer than 1.76" I trim...

If the case is too long it wont chamber properly in a semi auto such as an ar-15 your weapon wont go into battery properly.

well thats what i was told here. retrim, but seriously, it should not take you more than 15-20 minutes, or if it does, get a different trimmer

What's a good cheap case trimmer? Right now I have one where there is a thing that holds the cartridge, I put that in the drill. Than there is the trimmer which I hold into the case mouth and spin it for a couple seconds.
                1.) Its slow
2.) Its become very sucky for reliably trimming the cases

And will 5 thousandths of an inch really have such catastrophic effects

you need the power adapter, and the trimmer (separate)

same power adapter for trimmer too

I had some cases that were of by like 1-2 thousandths in .308 they barely chamber in my bolt gun and i.e. take more force then they should. In a semi auto .223 that would likely result in failure to go into battery and other malfunctions. And you are talking about double that extra length. The long and the short as everyone has said is re-trim your cases to get them down to proper length.
