    9mm reload for IDPA

I'm reloading for the first time. My Dillon650 plus all the stuff will be here on friday. Now I need bullets, primers and powder. I've got tons of once fired federal and UMC. I was told I should use a lighter load so there's less recoil for the IDPA matches (Piru). I will appreciate any advise. Thanks Calguners

    hi Ben

my own personal loads are: (as always use at your own risk)

147 flat nose with 3.5 gn of winchester 231
125 round nose with 4.3 gn of winchester 231
125 round nose with 3.2 gn of Hogden Clays

i use magtech spp or even cci srp, make sure the primers are nice and deep.

i shoot straight lead or moly lead bullets and they work great. If you go too light of a load then you might have to mess with recoil springs. All 3 loads listed above work with my glock 19 and glock 17L (my glock 17L though had to run a 13 lbs recoil spring to cycle properly with any of the round nose loads.)

Its not so much the round but the round and the gun.
4grs of 231 with 124gr FP runs nice in my G19 but would not cycle my G34.
I have not worked up a load for my G34 yet.

I used to run 3.8gr of 231 under a 125gr lead roundnose bullet at 1.050" oal.
Now I run 3.8gr of Universal Clays under a 125gr lead roundnose bullet at 1.100" oal.
You might need do de-spring the gun a little to make those function.
