    tumbling primed brass

im an idiot...i fl sized my band new lc brass then proceeded to prime all 500 cases. i totally forgot to clean the lube off by tumbling it. im worried about loading it with the lube in the case neck because i dont want the bullets setting back when chambering the round. so has anyone tumbled brass with primers without any problems?

DO NOT TUMBLE YOUR PRIMED BRASS! You will end up with media stuck in your flash hole. Get a dry rag and wipe the lube off or just go ahead and leave it alone, your bullets wont set back when you chamber them.

Try this for a litle more neck tension and a smoother running expander ball. Take the whole decaping stem out of your die, chuck it up in a drill and polish the expander ball with a little 600 grit paper. Dont take off too much just smoothen out any machine marks.

If you can push the bullets in without much force than you need more crimp to begin with. Put just a tad more crimp and fogitaabout it!!!!

If your going to shoot up the lubed rounds, don't worry about it. If you are going to store them, than definitely wipe them off. I left lube on some sized cases for a while and got stains and gunk on them, like if it molded.

You lubed the interior case necks? You only lube the outside body of the case, Not the shoulder or the neck. How the heck did you lube your cases?

Probably with one-shot or some other spray lube.

How hard are you pushing? Are you deforming the bullet?

I'm not worried you will set it off, just the general lack of knowledge. More than likely you won't hurt yourself reloading, but you may shooting the reloads.

Be careful man. I do not want to read about you putting an eye out.

You may have some lube in the neck causing slippage or your die might be expanding the case neck to much or (this list could get long) the bullet might be slightly undersized or any combo of those conditions.

i do have lube in the neck thats why i started this thread and even attempted to push the bullet back. ive read an interference fit of .003- .004" is usually suffice which i also have. ive been succesful loading and shooting a few thousand rounds but i skipped a step this time.

You really don't need to worry about removing this type of lube. You would have to remove it if you used an RCBS lube pad or something else that left a lot of sticky residue.

If you have a crimp die, crimp them and be done. Even still, im sure it would be a problem the are they are now. If you are going to be de-priming live primers then absolutely wear eye protection and probably ear plugs as well. Make sure there is nothing flamable near by. Its generallt not a good idea to de prime live primers but sometime you just have to. Just take it very slow with even pressure. If the decapping pin hits too hard it will go off.
