    Ionizer use when reloading

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. Just acquired a fan/ionizer that was used to reduce static when working on electronic products. I would like to use it to reduce a reloading catastrophe caused by static. Would this help reduce static or have an opposite effect and make reloading more dangerous?

I currently reload on a Dillon XL650 and it has a slight tendency for powder to come out of the brass when the shell plate rotates to the next position. I know this is an issue with the XL650 and have spoken to a tech at Dillon.

I just don't see how a static discharge would ignite the powder, unless you're sticking your finger into the middle of the powder inside the powder pan. Even if you have a static discharge when grabbing the powder pan, the arc is going from you to the metal in the pan - the arc doesn't touch the powder.

One of these days, I want to do an experiment to see whether or not a static discharge can even ignite powder - in ideal conditions - arc passing directly through the gun powder. I have a feeling nothing will happen.

      Check this out:
      BS Time:

      Today’s headline news:

In the small town of Varget, a residential home on H414 st exploded when the owner of the house had reloaded some ammo. Eye witness John Doe says he saw it all happen, "When Jackson sat down on his chair, a static shock struck the IMR powder he had on the reloading bench and KABOOM!". Officials says that this is a regular occurrence and currently all reloading powder companies are making a recall on all powders sold from 2008-2010....

It was an act of God. The guy was punished for the blasphemous use of IMR powder in Varget City.

Cut 1/4 of a coil off the detent spring under the shellplate, problem will go away. No more spilled powder at station 4.
