Lee turret 4-stage convert to 3-stage

Is it possible to convert a Lee 4-stage turret press to a 3-stage?

I would contact Lee about it. Why would you want to? I seen the older turret presses with 3 holes for sale for pretty cheap online. Might as well just pick one of those up IMHO.

Just only use the three holes and not the forth. I like the forth die for crimping though.

I'm just curious for efficiency sake. For loading 9mm I heard that the Factory Crimp Die is not necessary.

don't know about 9mm, but I just finished loading 1200 rounds of .40 and the crimp is very important. I tried to skip the crimp part when I first started reloading back in the days, I remember the ramp pushed the bullet into the case. Not a good thing. Better safe then sorry

Yes, that is easily accomplished by using 3 dies only (and ignoring the empty hole).

            ;-)

I know, I know I was waiting for someone to say that. Since there doesn't appear to be a way.. let's kill this thread.

all you need is the three die turret. they are around 8 bucks through natchez shooters supplies. you can change the indexing rod too if you want but wasnt necessary for me. 9mm doesnt need a firm crimp but it does need some. i prefer the factory crimp die. i get great results with it. you can use the seating die and get a crimp with it too but you can control the crimp much better with the FCD.
