Is there any online vendors of brass or anywhere to pick some up? I'm looking for some 30-06 brass so I can start loading for my m1 garand. Also anyone have a clue to what the 30-06 ball load would be? If I'm correct it calls for IMR4895 and 150 grain rounds.

IMR 4350 with 150gr projo. 4064 is also good. velocity out of a garand with LC 66' is around 2500 fps. no where near the 2600 or 2700 projected. 45grs of 4064 and 150gr FMJ will work fine. H4831 is a NO-NO! to slow of a powder and will induce lots fo wear and may even break some parts.
BL(C)-2 (wc 846) is too fast. but fun to make plinking rounds. ~40gr using a 150gr.
Unique and 150gr is fun too. 18-20gr with 150gr. (will not cycle).
if you need some brass i can help out some.

Here's some information for you. I've been reloading for my Garands for years. IMR 4350 is too slow for the Garand. Don't use it. BLC-2 (WC846) does work in the Garand as does H-335(WC844). In the IMR line use nothing slower than IMR4320. Your IMR 4895 is perfect for the rifle.
Here's some info from the CMP on loading for the
Garand. One member placed loads from an old article in an American Rifleman article. It's very informative. The new Hornady loading manual(7th edition) has a section on loads for the M-1 Garand.
There's lots of information out there, just Google it.Comment

Cool thanks! It will mostly all be for target shooting. I live in the Stockton area. I got the Garand as a gift and it's a real good shooter I just need to get 30-06 dies and some brass and start loading for it so I can enjoy it some more! I have some 150 GR. federal Fusion that I use in my hunting rifle. Would it be to high velocity for the garand? Just wondering so I could use it up if so and save that brass!Comment

Also I have only been reloading for so long and mostly for my long range rifle ".308" . How do you tell if one powder is a faster burning powder is there something in the numbers like "IMR 4895" or something on the label? I use very popular loads for my .308 and I have not pushed any limits with it as I'm still learning some stuff and I don't want to be unsafe.Comment

Since you are very new to reloading, you should get a good manual, the Hornady 7th edition has loading data for the Garand. You cannot judge the burning rate of a powder just by the numbers. For the Garand, you need to use powders in the "Medium" burning range.
Look over the list of powders suggested in the CMP blog I gave you.
The Federal Fusion ammutinion is likely NOT suited for the Garand since you don't know what Federal has used in that ammunition. If you want to use factory ammunition, you can get an adjustable gas plug for your rifle http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=777146
You need to do some reading on reloading for your Garand. There is a wealth of information out there. You need to seat your primers below flush to prevent slam fires.
Read up.Comment

Yeah I know how to reload it's just the powders I need to learn a little more on. I planned on getting a adjustable gas plug soon. I have read the Speer reloading manual but I have heard from some people it's not as good as some of the other manuals out there. I'll have to pick up the hornady manual.Comment

Another good powder for the Garand is IMR4064. I use 48.0 grns of it with a 150 grn FMJ bullet and Winchester LR primers in commercial brass. Its a tack driver and functions perfectly. Double check you data with a manual though.Cowboy Action Shooter

48gr of imr 4895 under a 147 fmj-bt of a 150fmj bullet is one of the "standard" Garand loads.Randall Rausch
