Why Is Federal Brass Shorter?

How come Federal .223 brass always has a shorter neck? Like allot shorter even after firing. Anyone ever get a explanation from the factory?

but i got to agree somewhat as federals in 223 are almost as annoying as amerc in 45acp

1.743" for some once fired stuff. Never had a problem loading it but I've always wondered why its always like that compared to other manufacturers who seem to be pretty close to one another ~1.75".

Whats the length of them? I have some fed 223 case and they seem fine to me but I may have shot them a few times so they could have grown.

I know that some manufacturers will size everything at the minimum length to ensure it will fit in every firearm. I guess technically having the neck a bit shorter wont hurt anything but it may not be as accurate.

Well I have heard that once you fire a round the case does shrink a bit, but once you resize it it comes back out to being a little bit longer

Whenever I load mixed headstamp brass the FC cases are always far different than the others.
