Need an accurate 308/155gr/varget load

I have a POF 308 semi and need an accurate 155rg load. Here is what I have....

Federal gold match brass
CCI BR primers
Varget
Sierra 155 HPBT #2155

Where should I start and what increment should I go up? Would .5gr increments be OK?
Like 44/44.5/45 etc? How many of each load, would 10 rounds each be OK and shoot 3 round groups at 100?

Hodgon says 44 grains is the starting load.
Load up a couple of foulers and 5 rounds of 44 grains, 44.5, 45, 45.5, 46, 46.5 and 47 grains (max load). Set the OAL about .010" off the lands to start with.

Shoot these at about 1 shot a minute and see what the groups look like. If the better groups are bunching up near certain powder weight then load 5 more rounds in .2 grain increments at the lower to the higher of the .5 grain weight groups for fine tuning.

If the groups look like they're getting tighter as charge weight goes up, with no over pressure signs then load start loading in .2 grain increments above 47 grains and see what your gun ikes.

It's also a lot easier if you put up a number of targets at one time (numbered 1-7) for all your charge weights so that you don't have to walk back and forth so much.

Other than the brass, that combo is what many of the best long-range shooters in the world have used as components for the last 15 years. Typically, the loads end up at 46-47.5 grains, but start lower. Every lot of Varget varies, so testing is necessary each time you change. You will waste fewer components by shooting three-shot groups. If the group with three shots is poor, it won't get any better by adding two more bullet holes. Then work further with the good group loads.

I have found Benchmark to be a more accurate powder with 155 grain bullets in the 308. 42 grains is about right.
