Blue Dot for .308

Anyone have any good .308 loads using Blue dot?

I always see reduced loads i was wondering if any of you have experience with it..

Never used blue dot, but have used Unique and Red Dot quite a bit. Around 9-10gr of Unique behind a 165gr cast silhouette bullet and it works great. Even used a reduced 4198 load in my m14 with that cast bullet and it functioned perfectly.

If you don't already have it, pick up the Lyman cast bullet manual. It has plently of reduced loads with pistol/magnum powders. Great resource.

There is a guy names seafireB17 something that has done alot of load development with Blue Dot in various calibers. The accuracy is amazing and sometimes betters the best of full power loads.

I've used it in my 6mm PPC with excellent results, although it is position sensitive.

Yeah I've heard about him..
Can you not make max loads with these powders or what? Everyone only talks about super low loads..
But I'll try to look him up

oh no.
Blue dot is a pistol/shotgun powder.
The only reason you use pistol powders in rifle cartridges is to make drastically reduced VELOCITY loads.
You may actually be working at full pressure, but you are burning so little powder that you don't get much velocity.

If you want full velocity loads, you need to use proper rifle powders.
