EBAY. yep i got tired of trying tire shops and getting the no's from metal scrap yards. so i buy lead in 50-60 lbs on ebay. you gotta shop around but once in a while you will find someone that will sell you 50lbs shipped to your door for $50.00. As for the equipment i guess we all started off with pots and stoves. However once you get a bottom pour furnace your life is so much easier.

I have always been interested in bullet casting and my brother owns my dads tire shop so lead is not an issue. It is fascinating to study the different molds available and it is a classic endeavor. I have never done it. It is like a lot of things, If you enjoy the process, do it for that. You can buy precasts probably cheaper than doing them yourself and I really prefer to shoot jacketed bullets, particularly bullets driven to high velocities. I have shot a lot of 38 Special wadcutters but they are so cheep to buy. It is a little like the guy that builds his own Airplane, If you want to fly, you buy a flying airplane, If you want to build one that is fine too.....but the other guy will be in the air for years before you ever get off the ground.

Do you have their contact no? Their website does not work and I saw a woman in a lingerie.

Picked through a bucket of scrap weights today while getting some tires mounted and sadly, there just weren't many lead clip-on weights. Not enough to make sifting through all the weights worth it.

Going to see what the recycling center has in the way of scrap lead (helps to have friends in just about every industry), otherwise I'll snag a few pounds of lead shot at IMS when I head over there this week.

Looks like casting will work well and save me a few bucks on my .357 and .44 bullets, and 9mm I'll just keep ordering online.
