Modification to shell plates for Hornady EZject

    Hi,

I got the new sub-plate for my press with the new ejection mechanism. All my shell plates are of the older type, so I tried to estimate the size of the groove, chucked them up in a lathe and broke a few carbide cutters trying to machine a groove into them. Unfortunately it seems my groove isn't quite right and the shell plate binds when tightened down to the sub-plate. I'm not sure which dimension is off.

Does someone here have one of the newer style shell plates and a set of calipers? I'd like to know the depth of the groove, and the distance from the outer radius of the shell plate to the inner and outer edges of the groove.

    Quickly measured...

    Depth: 0.052"
Distance from the outer edge of inner (keyhole shaped hole) to inner edge of groove: 0.980"
    Width of groove: 0.250"

Not exactly the ones you asked to measure but these are way easier to get with calipers.

If that doesn't work, PM me your address and I can send you a plate I don't use all the time for reference as long as I can have it back in a week/10 days

No worries, that will do nicely. Thank you very much.
