    Head up butt=wrong primer???

So I accidentally primed about 200 .40 with small rifle primers instead of small pistol.Should I continue, will I die if I do?Or will it be ok?
I measured a sm rifle and sm pistol amd they arethe same in all respects, measurement wise.I even champered up a few and fired off the primer only, and they discharged.I thought the primer might be harder, but it worked.
They will be fired from a Glock.
    What say You?
    Thanks

Back in the Clinton days, a guy I knew did this because of shortages. I never saw him shoot them however it worked for him. I'd think if the primer was hotter it should be fine as they were intended for slower burning powders however I'd play it safe. Why risk it.

I don't know if it's safe to use or not, but 200 primers is only what, $5.00 - $7.00?

I say you use your gun to pop the primers, decap the cases, and put new ones in.

If you've already made complete cartridges, you'd be giving your bullet-puller a workout.

Don't know about the 40 but a lot of guys use SRP in their 38 supers. No problem, if your gun will ignite the primers.

If your loads are not max loads, you should be ok.

You are fine. Primer is identical except the cup is thicker to handle the pressures generated by rifle loads. Unless you have a lightened trigger ( less than 3.5 lb ), they will work fine.

            Go shoot.

You'll be fine i did the same too. I only ran 50 or so off just to test. Worked fine with no signs of overpressure.
