You need to fiqure in how much trouble to mail order/hazmat/credit card BS to put up with or just get what you want to try out. Once you come up with your ideal load than mail order in bulk.

Every store, online retailer and gun show vendor is out to make a few bucks on every sale. If you don't like capitolism, move!

Do some dealers sell items a bit more expensive than what your local dealer sells them for? "Yes".

Do some dealers sell items for A LOT MORE than what your local dealer sells them for? "Yes".

Do some gouge you at the gun shows? "YES"!

But like the above guys mentioned...weigh it all out.

Factor in the shipping and hazmat fee's, and figure-out the bottom line.

As for the gun shows...factor in the parking fees ($10.00 here at the Cow Palace), and the possibility of them being sold out by the early morning frenzy.

It's all a balance.

Some say it's capitalism, some (like me) say it's gouging, and some say other things.

But it's all cool. It's America. Take it or leave it.

But as a consumer, do one thing...REMEMBER. Remember who sold what for what price, and patronize who you were happy with in these tight times.

Another thing to remember is that each vendor at a gun show sets their own prices. In the last year, I've found sealed powder for as little as low as $10/lb at gunshows. I even bought 6000 primers for $50 at a gun show when no one had any in stock. Of course, I've passed on primers at $60/1000 and powders that were $25/lb too. You have to shop around.

Nope no gouging at gun shows. But the definition of gouging varies

You may find it here and there. I think it really depends on the gun show vendor and what their profit margins are. The single guy over the corner is going to charge you more for primers than another vendor that is more commercialized or has more to sell. They may have bought in bulk and gotten a better price than the guy selling just a couple cases of primers.

One thing I did a while back was vendors buying up stock from one booth only to turn around and sell it for way more at their own booth. I don't mean a couple of dollars either. Back when primers were really scarce I saw some vendors buying at $35/1000 then trying to turn around and sell for $70/1000 at their booth.

Supply and demand I guess. Of course as consumers we always have the option to not buy at those prices.

People are a curious species........They think nothing of buying a big gulp for 1.49 that costs .05 but get upset if some other industry tries to make a gross profit of 33% Everyone should have the freedom to spend what they have however and on whatever they like. Markets have never changed. The people that are willing and able to pay the most get the goods........

I dont get why people get all bent out of shape and call it gouging. Look AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A CHOICE of purchasing from more than one vendor its not gouging. If you were in the middle of a zombie attack and the guy wanted 1000$ for a box of 20 rounds and he was the only one selling ammo that's gouging. Personally I don't give a s*8t what someone wants for something.
if I want it and the price seems fair to me then I buy it. Simple as that. If I dont liek the price I move to another vendor

None of these items are "essential". If you don't like the price don't buy. Gouging only comes into play if you must have the item to survive, and we are NOT at that stage yet.

What Raymond said. Luckily I had a But load of components when the shortage hit. Stores were gouging everywhere, call it capitolism, I called it bull...t I do believe prices have leveled out some what but you need to shop around. Powder Valley will always get my buisness. Get in with some fellow shooters and do your own group buy.
