Lee auto disk???

Does anyone have a problem with there disks not dropping the charge that they claim.

Using bullseye and disk #53 is supposed to drop 5.0 well it actually drops 4.6 to 4.8 it is off and never accurate any ideas or a better system.

Bullseye is flake propellant. All flake propellants become inconsistent at the lower charge weights. If you want greater precision, switch to a finer grain powder (Titegroup or W231). If you want to use Bullseye at the small charge weights and want high precision, then weigh each charge.

I always weight the first couple powder drops. Sometimes their right on, sometimes their off a couple 10th's of a grain. As long as it's not over the max, I don't worry about it, since 90% of my reloads are for target shooting.
If I need a precise hunting/competition load, then I'll use a lighter drop, with a powder trickler and scale to make sure every load is exactly the same.

What powder measure are you using? The standard auto disk or the auto disk pro? Makes a huge difference. I use the pro for my 357 mag ammo and the standard auto disk with the adjustable charge bar(it has to be the adjustable charge bar and nothing else) and i get very consistant results with the standard auto disk and lee adjustable charge bar. I use alot of unique, and bullseye in that config and get reliable results. Try it. I guarantee it will solve your unique/bullseye and flake powder problems.

Using the standard disk which came with the deluxe turret kit. Think I will look into the charge bar.

just ordered the lee pro update kit that comes with the ajustable charge bar, will see what happens.

I have the Lee auto disk powder measure and it is accurate but it leaks everywhere! I called Lee and they said, "It's been that way for 30 years sir. If you don't want it to leak buy the pro update kit."

I have no probs with W231 and the pro. It is a little ight. Try diffrent sizes till you get it right where you want it. The adjustable charge bar or the double disk kit will open alot more adjustability.

The standard auto disk is messy with flake powders. Except (for me anyway) with the adjustable charge bar/metering block. The pro has a rubber type wiper just under the hopper that eliminated most of that.

I bought it for the same reason you did (couldn't get the exact charge weight I wanted with the lee disks). Works great. I've double-checked the weights it throws with my Chargemaster digital and it's always within .1 grain (that's with W231; can't say how it works with other powders).

SHHH!! Your going to give away the secret!! J/K yeah the adjustable charge bar works very well with the standard auto disk. I think its actually more accurate then the Pro version although the pro has features that are nice too. I bought both for multiple turrets and love them. I use the adjustable charge bar/standard auto disk for 38 and 40.(cause i use light charges in those cals.) and the pro auto disk for large charges in my magnums.
