little dandy.... is this a bad idea?

I have a Little dandy with a full rotor set, the biggest rotor (26) throws 23 grains of varget, the load I decided on requires 26 grains of varget and a 55 grain bullet (.223)

here is the idea, I don't happen to have a few hundred buck laying around to buy a new powder thrower, so I am thinking I will find a rotor that throws 13 grains and drop 2 charges, of course I will try several charges on my scale before I start loading ammo and as normal check every 10th charge

IDK Sounds OK to me. 26gr. is 26gr. even if you measure it out with a teaspoon.
I say go for it.

I've got one of these also. On any given day, the weight may change as the volumn may change. I guess it's all in how one holds their mouth that day. I usually use a rotor to get really close to the weight, then trickle the rest. I may just use the weight the rotor is throwing if it's close and gives me the velocity I want.

If you can throw 13grains twice consistantly, by all means use that method. I'd weigh the outcome to see if it's exactly 26 grains just out of curiosity.

I am thinking I am going to weigh 10-20 26 grain charges to test before I go with it

i have weighed hundreds of 4.3 grain charges loading up .45, and the very worst, it has been off by 0.2 grains.... so with 2 throws, that could be 0.4 grains...

ended up wildly inaccurate +/- .4 grains after 10 throws, I got anything from 24.7-25.4

If its that inaccurate I would looking into getting a new one. Even my cheap lee's are good within +/- .1-2. If I'm loading up range plunkers I just measure a few charges before I start loading to make sure its at the range I want and every 50 rounds after that. If I'm loading for accuracy. I set up to throw .5gr below my target weight and use a trickler to get exactly what I need. Also I give my powder measure a few taps while its loading the powder and while its dropping the powder. I do this to insure the powder is filling the measuring device(what ever it may be) evenly and that its dropping all the powder. If I don't do this I can get random inaccurate charges. You might want to try this.

started using the cap from one of these.. and I won't be darned if it isn't 26 grains +/-0.1 every time if you fill it to the top
