    UMC Ammo Questions

I just received my two Bass Pro Remington UMC 9mm Mega Packs. Upon inspection, I noticed that both packs look like they have been dusted in gold glitter. These small flakes are plentiful and throughout the inside packaging. Is it from the brass casings? Why is it there? Will they make a mess in the action of my handgun? Etc. Etc. Etc.

Additionally, a handful of the rounds are noticeably shorter. This can be observed easily while just looking at the rounds in their plastic holder. It appears as though the bullet is seated deeper/ lower into the casing. Is my guess accurate? Should I be concerned about these "short" rounds?

I found one round with a deformed primer. It is rectangular in shape though not symmetrical. I obviously will not shoot this round.

I have shot thousands of rounds in various calibers of various brands, yet I have never had any of the forementioned problems. I look forward to you teaching me about these issues.

I got a box of .22 once from Walmart and half the rounds, look like someone got pliers and squished the .22's. I took them back for another box and havn't had any problems since. Maybe you just got a bad batch?

Dunno what to say about the gold dust other then it came off the case after it was tumbled and washed, could dry as a residue and then flake off in the box. As for the shorter rounds I would check the OAL with calipers and see if it is within spec to be shot or toss them out. Not sure how long it would take Remington to send you out another box of ammo. The triangular looking primers I would send back or toss those too. Take pics and send an e-mail to Remington or whoever sold you the ammo.
