Need advice: .40 S&W WWB replacement?

Like many others I have been feeding my p99 a steady diet of WWB. But, as many of you are experiencing as well, the supply has all but dried up in CA and even in other states it is still pretty hit or miss. My stock pile has dwindled and I am forced to look for an alternative and wanted to pick the collective brains of Cal guns...

    Requirements:

    1) .40 S&W FMJ 165 gr

    2) Easily procurable

    3) Inexpensive per round price

    4) Brass

    5) Range Accurate (not looking for target or defensive ammo)

    6) Reliable (not some foreign poj that's going to bang up the gun, have inconsistent velocities, etc)

With that said... what have you actually fired that works well and meets the above so I can finally feed my friend again? Thx in advance for the advice!

    Merry Christmas!

Are you looking locally or Internet. (I'm also looking for .40 in the N. San Diego County area).

Last month I ordered a couple of boxes of Federal American Eagle from LuckyGunner (155gr), haven't shot it yet but now I get what is available. Don't know what you think of Federal or AE... but it was about 20.00 per box +/-, fast delivery.

Thx buddy... that's a really kind offer. Right now it's WWB 165 FMJ but I am, obviously, trying to find a replacement. As soon as someone actually suggests some we should be good to go. Lol!

I'll also gladly return the favor if you tell me what to keep an eye out for. Thx Kyle!

Why not purchase it online? SurplusAmmo.com has a ton of cheap .40 ammo for sale.

I am also looking to see what is easy to find, and good, cheap range ammo. You guys have any suggestions?

MagTech is pretty good. I use the .45 and 9mm and it shoots very clean, accurate and brass cased; although it doesn't have as much kick as WWB.

Monk, any particular reason for "dumping" WWB? Just curious.

shockingly, the MiWall's reloads are actually very nice for the price. a little light on the charge and a bit dirty, but more suprisingly more accurate than WWB in my XD-40. its mixed brass but I've not had a single reliability problem of ANY kind in 4,000 rounds

Factory reloads get a bad rap for some reason but I can't figure it out. There's more failures from the big companies than the small companies so the fact that brass is new or used has no bearing on it. It's QC of the processes.

                        You should get into handloading.

Seems like I can't consistently find it and I am sick of playing "who's in stock today". I'd love to keep it b/c, aside from being overly dirty, seems to work well enough across the board for range use.

You are correct. But it seems all the spare $$ keeps going to buy guns... Anyone else have that problem?

Until I stated reloading, now my extra $ go to more reloading stuff. I can load a box of .45 for about $7 and thats with having to buy lead, free lead probably like $4-5
