To crimp or not to crimp

Loading 69 gr sierra HPBT should they be crimped. Ive read that you should only crimp the cannelure bullets. These are not, but have read that if shooting out of semi auto that bullets should be crimped. Any thoughts. Going to be shooting out of a 1/9 twist 16 in cmmg upper.

    Thanks

the SMK's are a thin jacket target bullet and they are not to be crimped.

no roll crimp. I do run a Wilson taper crimp that just makes sure no flare exists.

I do not crimp my match rounds. Regular resizing and seating with Forster dies or Redding dies never gave me a problem.

Neck tention should be enough to hold them in place. Load an inert test round. Take a C.O.L measurment of it then chamber that round by letting the bolt close on it full force out of a mag. Take another measurment to see if it sat the bullet in any deeper. Try this a few times. If it dont change then your good to go...
