GRAIN..............what is it?

I just looked over a bunch a cases of reloaded 9mm ammo cans that I have bought over the years and noticed they all have different grains.

Does the grain simply mean the amount of powder in the brass?
What is the difference in shooting each grain?
Am I really going to notice a difference between 124 grain and 125 grain?

it's referring to the weight of the bullet.

Grain in your case is the weight of the actual bullet itself. I don't think you will see a huge difference in a 124 grain bullet and a 125 grain bullet.

Chickenfried, and Animal Mother, CK867 are all correct:

1 grain equals 64.8 milligrams.

"Grains" is a measure of weight: 1 gram = 15.4324 grains.

1Lb. equals 7,000 grains.

So the higher the grain #, the heavier the bullet, the more felt recoil.....

I don't think it's just you.... the two rounds on either side look like it.
