Federal Ammo question

I bought some new in box Federal 5.56 Ball ammo today and it looks like sh**. It's all dinged up and tarnished. Is this the way Federal ammo is? Should I return it?

is it in 20 round boxes marked xm193?

if so it is fine the brass is not polished small dings in the cases are no problem. xm193 is great ammo.


if it was loose packed it was xm193PD and is floor sweepings. inspect each round and toss out heavily dented cases. from what i have seen/heard the PD ammo has a 5-10% trash rate.


it sounds like xm193 though and it will be fine. make sure your chamber is 5.56 as they are loaded hot.

yeah it's XW193, in a box of 20. But man it looks like hell.

Known issue. If looks are a concern, get Q3131 or Q3131A.
