    Vacaville - Positive Experience

    Hello Calgunners,

Was in http://www.gunsfishing.com/ today with the family - 1st time I have been there. Reminded me of a 'small' Cabela's in a way with all of the stuffed animals plus the impressive stuffed polar bear and lion.

Picked up a few reloading items including some IMR powder and some primers.

Brought up a controversial subject while I was there and had a pleasant conversation with 'Bob' - plus others - (on different subjects). Talked to a fellow customer about 17 HMR and 22-250 and Remi 887's.

They have a Remi R-15 and R-25 (.308) plus a 12 Ga. Remi Wingmaster - plus the new Nitro 887 (Black $359 - good price) plus the camo 887.

I was impressed with the place.

    Regards,

They have seen the light, they're not totally anti-EBR anymore.

We deal with them some....but they are not the most knowledgeable guys around. I bought a .308 Mauser there last spring......wouldn't shoot, broken firing pin, they really didn't care. They really didn't even know what it was.....mismarked on the rack. I knew what it was so it was OK. When we asked them about repairing the defective rifle they got sort of smart with my wife......it was a bad choice. She won't go there again. I like people that don't know what they are selling. Gives me the advantage!!!!

+1 for these guys as far as selection of goods. Lots of ammo types, good range of guns (even a BB'd rifle or three) both long and hand. Pretty good prices, too. You fish? They have even more fishing stuff.

I met with the owner Bill - he took my Centennial Winchester in trade for an excellent price (he even kept it - it's not on the racks) toward my purchase of a few new handguns

But, like every gunshop I've ever been in, you'll get an attitude from most people who work there. Don't take it personally, would you want to work in retail? (just kidding, in this time any job is a good job) Gunsmiths are even worse for a walk-in!

All of the people I talked to didn't really have that smug attitude that some of the self-centered people have - especially around 1 year ago. Of course, I had my kids with me and a WGAS attitude myself - so I am sure that helped.

But, as I was talking to my son as we were leaving Vacaville, I said, "You know, we really don't have anyplace that nice in the Bay Area, I don't want to say that - but I think it is true." - He agreed with me. Kerley's is close - but not as big, no firing range, and not 3 floors. Not to take anything away from Kerley's as I like that place.

Anyway, after seeing some of the remarks that have been posted here - I was more than prepared before going - but again, it was a very pleasant experience. Nice people, great selection, and even had the camo under-armor there that Cabela's sold out of.

It is a very nice store with a pretty good selection. Prices seem to be a bit on the high side. I had not gone for a good long time due to bad experiences with them but went a few weeks ago as I knew they would have something as a X-Mas gift i needed for someone and they were very pleasant. Which came as a surprise. Not the normal ****ty attitude they normally seem to have however I did not go upstairs to try and talk about guns.

they're okay for ppt's, but that's about all I'd use them for. They're not nearly as bad as canyon sports in martinez though.

Yup they used to be MEGA anti EBR but they are on the greed train. I asked one of the bald older "gentleman" a question regarding powders and he grunted and motioned downstairs. The race card is not in my deck, but the feeling I got from dealing with this "gentleman" was I wasn't worth the time to use vocalization due to my skin not matching his. Anyway, they are the only game in Vacaville, and those "gentleman" know it. Glad they embrace EBR's now though.

they are probably the worst guns sporting store I have ever dealt with. Belittled me and my wife.

Will never go to them again. Not even for ammo.

I'll pay more elsewhere before I'll ever give them a dime of my money. Biggest bunch on ignorant arrogant jerk offs I've ever dealt with at any retail establishment. I'm glad Center Mass is open across town, not a big selection but they have the range open again and at half the price as GFS.

Did a private party transfer there a couple of weeks ago and had an arrogant old man with big attitude helping me. He really made me feel like I was bothering him..

having said that I have bought two used rifles there. A remington 582 and a Mosin 91/30. Both were really good deals but if you shop there be prepared to deal with idiots though..... beware!
