    Sharps 45-90

Recently got a Cimarron Pedersoli Sharps "Quiley" 45-90 rifle. Any ideas and where to get loaded ammo, reloading info, or group source to learn about it. Was a gift to me.

Cabelas on the reloading equipment you can also go to places like lee precision.com and buy direct. then as for the knowledge start looking into see how much it cost and then we wil edumucate you on reloading. the 45-90 is very easy to load especially if you go OE. Black powder.

          45-90

          Thanks all

I also got some 45-70 ammo with it and have been told you can shoot 45-70 in it. Can you shoot modern 45-70 in a Pedersoli??

I would NOT being going that route until you find out what he PSI rating on your rifle is for a FACT! Some of that 45/70 ammo is for the Marlin 1895 lever gun and it is loaded much hotter etc.

Only ammo that is rated for Trapdoor Springfields. I would stay away from the 45-70 +P ammunition. Also what is the barrel twist of your rifle. In it's day, the 45-90 was an "Express" cartridge, meaning it was designed to shoot a lighter bullet at a higher velocity. As a result, had a slower twist rifling for ~300gr bullets and would not always stabilize longer/heavier 400-500gr bullets.

BTW Starline is a excellent source of component cases. 45-70/45-90 are easily to reload.
              Luck favors the prepared.

The original battle plan did not survive initial contact with the enemy.
