    Tracer ammo

I have a line on some new 308 tracer ammo. 142 grn bullets.
Is there anywhere in Nor Cal to shoot it? Most Ranges wont let you shoot Tracers.

$82/1000 + shipping from the East Coast is a deal.
I was thinking of buying a 1000 & reloading a different bullet in it.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to shoot or poses loaded tracer ammo in CA.

I think you can poses the bullets but not a live round.

Someone will state the CA code in a few.

Each bullet is a separate felony. Loaded or unloaded.

Tracer ammo is classified as destructive device in the section 12301(a)(1) of the California Penal Code.

I've seen people shoot it were I live so a suppose it's legal.

Does that tracer ammo cause any faster degradation to say an AR15 barrel than regular FMJ ammo?

They make crazy ammo for shotguns. Google it. Bolo rounds. Dart rounds. Bird/buck rounds.

Just because you see other people do it doesn't mean it's legal.

From what i have read they use a powder that burns at a higher temp to make sure the tracer lights , Heat is what kills the throat of a barrel so if what i read is true then I would say yes your barrel will be finished sooner , How much sooner i cant even guess.

not trying to be rude or anything, but this forum is about California guns/laws/and related issues. Not that an out of state member wouldn't be able to help with some questions, and not that it should be limited to CA residents only....just keep it in mind when you post things like this cuz some people (especially those who are new to CGN) might not know to look at where you're from and might be confused.

on that note...having one tracer round could bar you from ever owning another gun as it's a felony charge. I dont know about you, but i don't think it's worth it just to see a blur of colorful light fly down range. It would be cool for sure, but not worth the risk here in the PRK

You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

The tracer compound is in the wad. Its useless.

The glow you see in a tracer round starts after it leaves the barrel. This subject came up before with members of Cal-guns stating that they wanted to shoot tracers in this tinder dry state. Go figure.

if you want to shoot tracer shoot it in AZ or NV. NOT in California.... now i have seen people take tracer and "de-mill" them so that there is no more compound in it. then you could shoot it... but that's a lot of work, not to mention dangerous.

Someone else would have to de-mil it for you because possession of the bullet itself is a crime.
