Oregon Trail Laser cast bullets

I am new to Reloading and finally got some small pistol primers. I am starting with 9mm and need to pickup some bullets as my last component. I can buy the Laser cast bullets locally at the store to begin working up some loads but I have only shot FMJ Round nose for target. I shot a XD 4" and an Springfield EMP 9mm as well. I don't know if there is an issue using these cast bullets in these barrels. Does anyone have experience with these bullets and handgun combos?

I have loaded around 4000 rounds of lasercast .45 acp. Never had a problem! Onl thing is lead fouling in the barrel

Same here. I have loaded a few K of Lasercast 200 grain 45acp under 4.0 grains of Hodgdon clays with no problems and no lead fouling of the barrel. I shoot that load out of a Kimber compact. A while back Cabelas had the Lasercast on sale for around $54 per K which was a good deal. I stocked up but that is running low now.

I have around 6K I got from Pennbullets that I need to burn through next.

I shooit them in .45 and .44 mag. My mag load is 1 grain shy of the Keith load. I've not had it over a cronograph but I'm beting they move along at 1400 FPS. I use copper pot scrubers for cleaning.

You can eliminate all lead fouling when you cast your own.

Use a gas check
Proper sizing of the bullet
Proper lube on the bullet

But for how cheap they are I can see why allot of people dont cast. I'm guessing those bullets are not lubed and chattering on down the barrel creating allot of the fouling, and they probably dont have gas checks either.

How much of a PAIN is it to clean the lead out of a barrel thats been heavily fouled up with lead. I've read that kroil (Penetrating Oil) is the best at removing it????????

Removing lead out of the barrel is easier than getting copper out. All I use is an old .45acp brush and wrap it in a COPPER chore Boy pot scrubber and in about 10 strokes using no solvent the barrel is squeaky clean. Make sure they are copper and not copper plated steel.

For bullets I go through http://www.pennbullets.com/ The regular target bullets leave very little lead in my 1911's barrels and are super accurate. I loaded Oregon Lazercast for a while untill I found Penn. They are a better quality at a lower price.

I've been using Oregon Trail's 200gr SWC in 45acp as well as their 158gr SWC in my 357's for over 20+ yrs now with no problems at all.....

I spoke to Oregon Trail today about the laser cast bullets and asked about lead fouling. I was told to seat the bullet and then crimp in a separate step and that will reduce the fouling greatly. I am new to this so I don't know why that would be the case. Anyone have an answer to that?

Either way seating and crimping are separate steps.

Oregon trail has there own reloading manual . Very good . Dont know why that would reduce the fouling but, you can push these bullets pretty hard with no problems. My last step is crimping
