I just got a batch of .452, 200g, Moly LSWC's from PIR Tactical. I've been reloading the same from Bear Creek at 1.230 for a while. I've been using 6.6g of Unique and getting 950 FPS with the B.C.'s and Fed Magnum primers. 7.2g with Fed LP primers for the arrox. same speed.
The B.C.'s are smooth shoulder while the PIR's are single groove and are .040 longer. PIR claims to use original H&G molds. I'm setting them at .930 from the head to the shoulder giving me an OAL of 1.243. This equals 1/16" from the lands with the bullet vs dummy round test. Seems to chamber fine in my Kimber TLE II with a 5' barrel and 18.5 lb spring. But something just doesn't seem right...
Anyone have a pet load for the PIR's or loaded these in a 1911 before? PIR has no load data.
