As I am just getting into reloading while spending time in the book reading I have also been cleaning brass, my question is should the inside look like the outside or am I being to picky, after 9 hrs I changed the media as it looked really dirty then 3 more hrs with clean media and the insides are 80 to 90% clean, is this normal or should I keep at it.

don't worry about the inside at all. If you are so anal that you feel it must be clean, get an ultrasonic cleaner.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Brass doesn't have to be clean on the inside. However, if you have a tumbler and use fine grit walnut media then it seems to do half decent job cleaning the inside.
I would imagine that if you get much buildup and crud inside the brass then that could impact charge density a little bit. Could give you inconsistent accuracy if you're in a competition.Comment

One hour with a capful of Dillon rapid polish/walnut media and the brass looks really good. With the noise my monster Dillon Magnum FL-2000 makes, even that seems like a long time.
I used to do a second corn media tumble, I dont anymore...clean is good enough...they dont need to be trophy polished.Comment
