Crunching primers

Ok here's a question that I have about primers, this is the first time I ever reloaded cases that had been crimped, i swaged them but I still had a tough time getting the primers in, and some got a little deformed, My question is will they still work or just pop em out and redo?

I would say no, if it is deformed I would not take a chance with them blowing out the rear of the case. It may cost 5 cents or more depending on where you got your primers from, but it is not worth having shrapnel flying around for the cost of that primer. Either toss that brass aside and find someone to help swage it out or throw it int he brass recycling bin.

yea thats what i thought, was wondering if anyone else had this issue

if they went in straight and kind of stopped and look ok i would push them out and try them in another case say an r-p .223

got to ream those crimped pockets better

I probably crunch 1/200 or 1/300. I figure it just happens. When I swage I try to swage as little as possible so that the primer pocket isnt opened too much.

What swager are you using? I think the Dillon only rounds the edge as long as you don't bottom it out. Perhaps just a LITTLE bit more.......

I put use one of my smallest chamfer tools on my peened primer pockets and this happens almost never.

I never have swaged ever... I probabley get 1-2 in 1K
