anyone know of a source for 8x56r new production ammo. There are some good deals on rifles chambered for it,but, all the ammo I have found is way too pricey (and OLD!).

Alternatively, what the heck would be a good rechamber for these rifles?

Hornady is the only company i know of that makes it. I havent been able to find it in any of the stores. Cabelas has it though http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...set=ISO-8859-1 .

Reload using 7.62x54 russian case expanded to hold 329 bullet - slightly short but usable -- I think huntington has new brass -- my ha-penny

You probably already know, but if you do get a Mannlicher-Steyr, you'll also need some clips for it (the en-bloc style 5-round clips). If you end up needing a few, I have some extra I can give you.

Think it's going to turn into an expensive project if you rebarrel. Once you get the sights installed, etc you're going to be into that gun for a load of money.

Might be cheaper to reload.

prvi is suppose to have this caliber in production... even has it listed on their website.... but due to their recent explosion at the plant... i don't know how soon it will be before they have enough... cause i got a m95 just sitting in my safe unshot since i bought it since the only ammo i got with the gun were the nazi marked ammo, and i rather not shoot those.

Graf and Son (grafs.com) has ammo, brass and .329 softpoint bullets. Lee has dies (nice price).
