    surplus powder RG 4895

Anyone use surplus Radway Green 4895? Label says it burns like IMR 4895. Available at Widners $108 / 8lbs.

Yes, I have used it in .223 and .308 and I'm finding that it is slower burning than weideners is saying.
In my M1-A I'm getting 2500 fps at 44.3 grains using 168gr MK.
This load should be too hot but it is not showing excessive pressure signs.

In the AR it's also too slow with a big muzzle flash.
69 gr projectiles are going 2400 fps at 24.1 grs.

I called Weideners about it and they say I'm the first person to call about it being slow.

I'll keep testing but I'm confident in my results. Kinda sucky.
I got this stuff to load in the M1-A and it seems it won't do the job.
I read on the gun boards forum that some are not having the problems I am, some are. Mostly in surplus rifles.

    Good luck

I've shot a bunch of surplus and pulldown 4895, but now that it's up at $110, I figure I may as well buy the real deal for a few $$ more and not fuss around with the questionmarks. Haven't shot the RG flavor.
